WinterXcape: January 27
Free family tubing!
Join us for a day of blustery fun on January 27, 2019! Winter Xcape is a FREE family-friendly event at Maple Ridge Center's Snow Park. The event features snow tubing, cross-country skiing, and a cardboard sled race. Food will be available at the concession stand.
Schedule of Events:
12:00 PM - 5:00 PM: FREE snow tubing, horse-drawn sled rides, skis and snowshoes around the 1/2 mile track, outdoor oversized family games, and ice skating (weather permitting). The concession stand will have lots of great food available for sale throughout the day, including hotdogs, burgers, fries, and Snow Park Sundaes (ice cream).
12:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Zipline. Recommended for children.
2:00 PM: Snow Sculpture judging. Prizes: concession stand gift certificates
3:00 PM: Crosscountry ski race. Prizes: concession stand gift certificates
3:30 PM: Snowshoe race. Prizes: concession stand gift certificates
4:45 PM: Cardboard Sled Judging and Raffle for a free registration at Beaver Camp's Winter Camp.
5:00 PM: Cardboard Sled Race
Cardboard Sled Rules
Building Materials: Only Cardboard, duct tape and glue are allowed as building materials. Paint, markers, crayons, colored paper are allowed for decorations. Cellophane wrap allowed for windshields only. Use of any other materials will result in disqualification. Prizes will be given for distance, best sled design, and best costume/uniform. Up to three (3) persons allowed to ride in each sled.
◦Maple Ridge Center is a tobacco, alcohol, and pet free facility.
◦Although Winter Xcape is a free event, patrons must still obtain a ticket/waiver to go down the tubing hill. The ticket is free, but required for liability purposes. Signs and maps will be available directing you to the ticket booth and various activities.
◦Limited crosscountry skis and snowshoes are available for guests to use around the 1/2 mile track for free. Guests are welcome to bring and use their own gear throughout the day and during the races at 3:00 PM.
◦Double tubes will not be available for this event. As always, patrons are welcome to form "trains" with up to six single tubes.
◦The minimum height requirement of 36 inches (3 ft.) is still in effect for this event.
◦Donations will be accepted to support Maple Ridge Center and Beaver Camp, ministries of the Adirondack Mennonite Camping Association.
