MCC Meat Canner

Slide1

Thanks to all for a successful mobile meat canning event in 2018.

Nearly 500 volunteers over the course of the event helped cut, cook, and can over 14,000 pounds of turkey thigh meat.  Out of 9,423 cans of finished product, 936 stayed in Lewis County for local distribution.  We had enough donations to cover our costs - THANK YOU!  Donations are now being accepted for next year.  We will do it again April 5-6, 2019!

MCC's meat canner has served communities in need each year since 1946. We're excited to help! Ten percent of the finished product will be distributed locally. As host, our responsibilities include purchasing the meat and financing the operating costs of the mobile canner while it's at our site.

Here's how you can help:

  • Volunteer with the mobile meat canner at Maple Ridge Center in April 2019. Two-hour shifts will be available. Families and church groups are encouraged to sign up together!
  • Participate in fundraisers. Stay tuned for more information about a bike race and other fundraisers.
  • Donate. $40,000 is needed to cover the costs of the mobile cannery and supplies. Click the link below to help feed hungry people throughout the world and here at home.

We're excited to partner with the Mennonite Central Committee, local churches of all denominations, and the north country community.
